Bingo Bango Bongo – Let’s Play

If are a competitive person, but not the best golfer this is the game for you! I just can’t dedicate the time needed to be a good golfer, but I love competition. When I golf with guys who dedicate the time to golf, it is just not competitive, until I discovered bingo bango bongo. Bingo Bango Bongo is the great equalizer for golfers. It allows a player who shots in the nineties to beat a player that shoots in the 70s or 80s on a regular basis. Great game and a ton of fun. The best part is that it keeps players engaged, even if they might be pushing a 110 on the score card, they might get enough points to win the match.

What is Bingo Bango Bongo?

Bingo Bango Bongo is a points-based game that is great when you have a foursome of varied handicaps and skill levels. Players stay engaged the entire time as often times a poor golfer scores more points than the better golfers in the group. Bingo, Bango, Bongo allows weaker players to still earn points on each hole because points awarded have nothing to do with the number of strokes used on the hole for traditional scoring.

The format awards a point to the golfer in a group who is first to get on the green; who is closest to the pin once all balls are on the green; and who holes out first.

Bingo Bango Bongo Rules (Modern Dad Style)

The most important rule of Modern Dad Bingo Bango Bongo is that there is no “gaming the game” in an effort to score additional points. All golfers must try their hardest to score their lowest possible round of golf. The Modern Dad Topic’s rules do not allow for “weasel” play.

Scoring

Points may be earned for the Bingo, the Bango, and the Bongo and on each hole three points are awarded:

1. The Bingo goes to the first golfer in your group to get their golf ball on the green (bingo point);
2. The Bango goes to the player in the group whose ball is closest to the pin once all balls are on the green (bango point);
3. The Bongo goes to the player in the group who is first to get their golf ball into the hole (bongo point).

Order of Play

The golfers’ actual scores on a hole don’t matter for Bingo Bango Bongo scoring, but they still determine honors on the tee. Going first on a par-3 hole is a big advantage as you get the first chance at the Bingo point. Having the low score on a hole preceding a par-3 is important. If the hole immediately proceeding a par 3 hole had a tied score, the honors remain with the golfer who was the first to tee off of that hole.

Because the Bingo and Bongo Points are earned based how far away a player is from the hole, strict golf etiquette must be enforced. The player who is away always plays first. MDT defines away as the player furthest from the Pin.

Payment of the Points

Each point is worth a single US dollar. At the end of the round, all points are totaled up and a player with fewer points pays the player with more points $1 per point to make up the difference.

For example if the rounded ended like this:

• Player 1 would collect $2 from Player 2, pay Player 3 $3, and collect $3 from Player 4;
• Player 2 would pay Player 1 $2, pay Player 3 $5 and collect $1 from Player 4;
• Player 3 would collect $3 from Player 1, collect $5 from Player 2, and collect $6 from Player 4;
• Player 4 would pay $3 to Player 1, pay $1 to Player 2, and pay $6 to Player 3.

Even with a very wide range of scores, minimal money changes hands. All Total, Player 1 earned $2, Player 2 paid $6, Player 3 earned $14, and Player 4 paid $10.

Bingo Bango Bongo Tie Breaker

In the event that there is a tie for the must Bingo Bango Bongo points, a tie will be broken by counting the the number of holes in which the player earned 3 points. If player 1 earned 3 points on two different holes and Player 2 earned 3 points on 1 hole, then Player 1 would be the champion. If the players are still tied, the same tie breaker will be applied to the holes where the players earned 2 points per hole. If still tied, then a hole by hole tie breaker will be conducted the player earning the most points on the most difficult hole will be the champion. The tie breaker starts by going to the #1 Handicap hole, then the #2 Handicap Hole and so on.

Southern California Bingo Bango Bongo (Modern Dad Topics Group)
